What this site is
One calculator that does one thing: estimate VA disability back pay from an effective date, a decision date, a combined rating, and a dependent status. It applies the rate tables VA publishes and shows its working, so every number on the results screen can be traced back to a published VA figure.
Why it is free, and why there is no sign-up
A rate lookup is arithmetic over public data. There is no reason to put it behind an email address, and collecting contact details from people researching a benefits question invites exactly the kind of follow-up most of them are trying to avoid. So the site collects nothing: the calculation runs in the browser, and the inputs never leave the device. The privacy policy says the same thing in more detail.
Where the numbers come from
Every rate is transcribed from VA's published compensation rate tables, one file per rate year, each recorded with the page it came from and the date it was transcribed. Two automated checks run on every build: a schema check on the shape of the data, and a check that the year-over-year change of every rating matches that year's cost-of-living adjustment. The methodology page lists the sources year by year and sets out what the tool deliberately does not model.
What this site does not do
It does not give legal, medical, or financial advice, and it does not comment on any individual situation. It is not a representative in VA claims matters. For guidance on a specific claim, VA maintains a searchable directory of accredited representatives, which includes Veterans Service Organizations, attorneys, and claims agents.
